Your global ATM card + smart currency app and more

A quick resoruce to manage your finances

Hey,

It’s Shagufta here. Welcome to the second edition of rebranded alivewithad.

In this newsletter, we help you manage your finances while you travel the world as a digital nomad.

This is your place to get bite-sized info about the nomad life. Here you go:

Quick tip

Always pay in local currency when offered the choice because Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) adds 3–7% to your bill.

Money to-do

Open a Fidelity Cash Management Account. It refunds global ATM fees, even internationally, but only U.S. citizens/residents can open it.

Global alternative: Try Revolut or Wise. Depending on your plan, both offer fee-free ATM withdrawals in many countries.

App to check out

If you’re trying to figure out if something is cheap or overpriced in a new country, download the XE Currency Converter app.

Works globally. Real-time rates + offline use.

You can also set alerts for currencies you use often (like USD to THB), so you’ll know when it’s a good time to exchange.

alivewithad special tip for nomads:

If you're staying abroad for more than a few weeks, regular travel insurance won’t be enough.

  • Made for remote workers

  • Have monthly plans

  • Give global coverage

  • Are visa-friendly

📌 TL;DR

  • Say no to Dynamic Currency Conversion

  • Fidelity: free ATM withdrawals + no fees

  • Use Xe to track and compare exchange rates

  • Choose insurance that works for nomads, not just short trips

Thanks for reading. : )

I will see you next week.

Your captain,

Shagufta
