Hey, Anirban here! Welcome to the 13th edition of alivewithad.

Now, let me introduce my today’s guest!

Lights, Camera, and Action 🥁 👟🧗🏻‍♀️

But wait, today we don’t have just one but two digital nomads with us. Yes, they are partners.

Nomads of the Week are Malin and Jakob 🦘

Let’s hear their story in their own words!!

Say hi to Malin and Jakob👋🏻

We are Malin and Jakob, a Swedish Digital Nomads couple, based in Dubai but work all over the world. We both have full-time jobs, and on our free time, we are building our brand on Youtube by sharing our lives, travels and investing abroad.

The Nomad Story

1. How did you start your digital nomad journey?

Our dream was to work as digital nomads, but we weren't sure how to get there. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jakob received a job offer from a remote tech company. We discussed it and decided to pursue it. Malin had to quit her job, but after two months, she received a job offer on LinkedIn to work remotely for a tax company.

2. How do you balance work, travel, and personal time?

Since we are based in Dubai but work European hours, we have the whole morning to ourselves! We often go to the gym, have brunch, and sometimes take a swim in the pool before starting to work. And since Dubai never sleeps, we have plenty of time for fun stuff in the evenings too.

3. What’s your most memorable travel story?

It's difficult to choose a favorite trip from all our travels, as we have been so fortunate to explore so many amazing places. Last year alone, we visited 18 different countries. However, if we had to pick, it would likely be our unforgettable experience of gorilla trekking in Uganda.

4. What’s your biggest challenge as a digital nomad?

Sometimes we struggle with maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The constant travel and the ability to work from anywhere can blur the lines between work and personal time.

5. What’s the most affordable country you’ve visited?

Difficult question, probably some remote island in the Philippines.

6. What’s one item you can’t travel without?

Laptops obviously so we can work.

7. What’s the quickest way to meet people in a new city?

Get involved in some type of sport.

8. What’s the best travel hack you’ve discovered?

Flying in a day earlier so that you can work your final day before vacation and already be at your destination when you close down the laptop.

9. How do you find good Wi-Fi while traveling?

That's what we struggle most with, finding reliable internet access. A good tip is to read the reviews of the accommodations and check if there are any co-working spaces in the area because they are always more reliable. For urgencies, get the best-rated SIM card in that country.
